Tabular Database Source block

The online Tabular Source block reads field data from a database table.  A tabular database is configured with a single table containing all field data (i.e. value, timestamp and/or quality). This block can execute in online mode or simulation mode.

Note that this connector may or may not be available on the user palette, according to your license type.

Tabular Database Source block

Description

During execution, when it is running in online mode, the value and quality (if available) for every field are read from the database table, based on the execution interval specified, where the latest available (time) data will be read. When it is running in simulation mode, the value and quality (if available) for every field for the given timestamp are read from the database table, if the data-set does not have a timestamp a timestamp will created based on the current time and the interval specified.

Input-Output block

Input-Output ports

The Tabular source has no input ports and one output port.  All fields in the output port will be of either data type double or integer.

Functions performed on tags

  • On the values - The value will be set as read from the database.

  • On the timestamp - The timestamp will be set as read from the database or as executed online.

  • On the quality - The quality will be interpreted as follows (if a quality field exists): a value of 1 signifies good quality, while for any other value, the quality will be interpreted as bad.

NOTE: When you use the Tabular Source block to read data in from a table that contains a DATETIME2 field you must use the “SQL Server Native Client” OLE DB provider for it to be recognized as timestamps. The “Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server” and “… for ODBC Drivers” will not work (not support by Microsoft) and will recognize DATETIME2 as string.
